New Projects Metropolis to set up labs in every State Our Bureau
Hyderabad , Jan. 29 METROPOLIS Health Services Ltd, a diagnostic laboratory chain, plans to set up one major laboratory in every State that will be connected to regional labs in different parts of each State, as part of its plan to become a Rs 200-crore company in five years. "We have good presence in the West and South. In phases, we will cover the East and North over the next two years," Dr Sushil Shah, the company Chairman, said. The diagnostic services company, which registered a turnover of Rs 24 crore, hopes to notch up Rs 40 crore for the financial year ending March 2004. With more focus on the South this year, the company plans to set up a modern diagnostic laboratory at Hyderabad for high-end tests. "As it is, the city has a good number of diagnostic centres that could offer routine tests. What we offer will be something high-end, such as a complete range of viral tests, molecular biology tests, allergy tests and tests for auto-immune diseases," he said. "There are some diagnostic centres that offer referral services. They do have good facilities at far off places and pick samples from elsewhere. But this results in time lag in collecting the samples and delivering the results," he said. At present, the company runs centres in Mumbai, Pune, Chennai, Tiruchi, Ahmedabad, Kochi and Jaipur. It also has 43 franchisees across the country.
