New Products & Services Canon India rolls out digital camera for professionals Our Bureau

DIGITAL imaging company Canon India Private Ltd has rolled out the EOS-1D Mark II model, which is targeted at event photographers and professional photo-journalists. According to company sources, this model achieved 8.2 effective megapixel resolution even at a continuous shooting speed of 8.5 frames per second. "It offers more pixels and a faster response than the earlier version," the source added. Considered a perfect solution for quick reaction shooting, Canon India is planning to distribute the EOS - 1D Mark II model through specially appointed strategic partners focused on the professional digital camera market. With 400 on its roll and offices in eight cities, the company has established a corporate dealer network of 281, wholesalers 78, over 500 Canon retail points and 16 retail stations. The Director and General Manager (Consumer Imaging and Information Division and Volume products), Mr Alok Bharadwaj, stated that the extraordinary feature of the company's latest release was more than evolution. He added that the digital camera market was growing at 100 per cent year-on-year. The total size of the market has been estimated at Rs 120 crore. While gearing up to strengthen its position in the digital camera market space and drive growth further, Canon has chalked out a strategy, which is aimed at educating professionals through seminars and workshops.
