New Products & Services Omega launching jewellery in India Neha Kaushik
Omega spokesperson Sonali Bendre
Recently in St.Moritz/Biel , Feb. 2 THE Swatch Group brand, Omega, is planning to launch its Omega Bijoux range of jewellery in India in the next few months. The jewellery will be retailed in India only through exclusive Omega boutiques, which are to come up initially in Mumbai, followed by smaller ones in Bangalore and New Delhi. Omega Bijoux is at present distributed only through exclusive Omega outlets worldwide. The high-end jewellery range under Omega includes necklaces, rings, earrings and cuff links. In addition, there is work going on to roll out more products for men internationally, Mr Jean Claude Monachon, Vice-President (Products), Omega, said while displaying Omega Bijoux's latest line of jewellery. The new jewellery lines are available in white and yellow gold using both precious and semi-precious stones. Incidentally, while Omega Bijoux represents the high-end line of jewellery, the group also sells jewellery under the Swatch Bijoux brand. Meanwhile, Omega also intends to introduce the Omega De Ville Co-Axial Chronograph watch in India, which was launched at the picturesque Swiss ski resort of St. Moritz last week by tennis player and Omega brand ambassador Anna Kournikova and Mr Stephen Urquhart, President of Omega. The watch, which has the St. Moritz logo imprinted on its dial, is a result of a long-term licence agreement between the Swatch Group and St. Moritz. According to Mr Urquhart, the licence agreement between the two provides for potential collaboration in various fields where St. Moritz and Omega share common ground. Interestingly, St. Moritz in 1986 had taken the step of protecting itself as a brand name in about 50 different countries, thus becoming the first place in the world to do so. The launch was preceded in the morning by Omega's annual bobsleigh cup, which on the inaugural day saw participation from Anna Kournikova and Omega spokespersons from seven countries, including Bollywood actress Sonali Bendre.
