E-Governance AP Govt identifies new services to be offered thru eSeva centres Our Bureau
Hyderabad , Feb. 3 WHILE consolidating G2C (Government to citizen) services, eSeva centres or integrated citizen services centres across Andhra Pradesh, are in the process of expanding the role of business to citizen (B2C) interface. The Director of eSeva, Mr Praveen Prakash, said that the Government has identified about 1,200 services, both federal and State as also private business, that could possibly be provided through these centres be it urban or rural or even through the upgraded STD booths. From the current 13 lakh users a month, it is proposed to increase the traffic to about 1crore a month by June this year. As a first step, eSeva centres plan to provide railway ticketing service that was under consideration for the last two years. In December, the Railway Board had given its clearance and `by next month we expect to roll out these services'. The real concern for Railways was with regard to giving blank tickets, which would now be addressed by a different mechanism whereby a person who books a ticket will be given a token and the ticket will then be couriered, Mr Prakash said. The other new services relate to State Road Transport bus passes, postal services including Kisan Vikas Patra, NSS Certificates, and more interestingly Tirumala Tirupathi Devasthanam tickets for darshan of Lord Venkateswara. On the anvil are services relating to Life Insurance Corporation, and National Insurance. With regard to National Insurance, the managers at the eSeva centres are now undergoing training. Thereafter, the centres would offer health insurance, personal accident, shopkeepers policy, householders policy and motor insurance, Mr Prakash said. The eSeva centres are in the process of tying up with several banks, which would make online payment process easy. Currently, the Government has tied up with the UTI Bank and the Reserve Bank of India's nod was awaited to offer services through the bank. This is likely to be obtained later this month, he said.
