Mumbai , Feb. 3 RELIANCE Infocomm has introduced a uniform tariff of Rs 1.49 per minute for calls to both CDMA and GSM mobile phones on two of its packages, increased long distance tariffs on certain slabs, as well as doubled SMS charges following the implementation of the new interconnect usage regime. The new tariffs have been announced for the Economy Rs 149 and Budget 149 customers only. The new tariff of Rs 1.49 per minute is higher than the earlier tariff of Re 1 per minute for Reliance-to-Reliance mobile calls but lower than the earlier tariff of Rs 1.99 per minute for calls to GSM phones. Calls to fixed line customers for distances of more than 500 km will continue to be charged at Rs 3.99 per minute, says a news release from the company. National long distance call rates for the 50-200 km and the 200-500 km slabs have been increased by Re 1 per minute. NLD calls to GSM phones will also cost more - Rs 2.99 per minute as against the earlier Rs 1.99 per minute. For calls under the same slabs to fixed lines, too, the rates have been increased by Re 1 per minute. SMS, which earlier cost 50 paise per message, will now cost Re 1 per message. The international SMS cost is Rs 3 each. The new tariffs for the Rs 249 plan are yet to be issued. Customers of the Dhirubhai Ambani Pioneer Offer, now closed, would continue with the tariffs guaranteed them for three years.
