Our Bureau

Hyderabad , Feb. 4

FOLLOWING the advice of the capital market regulator, the Hyderabad Stock Exchanges (HSE) is holding a day-long awareness programme on `Unique Identification Number' at its Somajiguda office premises here on February 7.

In a press release here on Wednesday, the HSE Secretary said the officials from National Securities Depository Ltd (NSDL) and Karvy Consultants would address the gathering. The exchange has requested its member brokers and general investors to avail themselves of the opportunity.

SEBI has notified regulations for the creation of a central database of market participants and investors with unique identification number. The market regulator has also made it clear that if these entities do not obtain the unique identification number by March 31, they would not be permitted to continue their business.

In the first phase, intermediaries registered with SEBI and their related persons such as principal officer, employees, promoters, directors, partners and associates would need to obtain the unique identification number during the period December 1, 2004 to March 31, 2004.

Towards this, Karvy Consultants was appointed as the Point of Service in Andhra Pradesh to provide application forms for registration, accept the forms and collect bio-metric details such as fingerprints of the applicants, the exchange release said.
