Award for Ranjana Kumar

HYDERABAD: Ms Ranjana Kumar, Chairperson of Nabard, is among six women selected for the Sadguru Gnanananda fifth national awards for `Excellence in social service" for the year.

The other five awardees are Ms Gool Plumber of the Andhra Pradesh Association for the Welfare of the Mentally Retarded (Hyderabad); Ms Amritha Rajagopal (Chennai); Dr S. Jayam (Sahishnatha Educational and Charitable Trust, Chennai); Ms Madhu Modi (Shree Vivek School for Mentally Retarded, Jaipur); and Ms Naseema Mohammed Amin Hurzak (Helpers of the Handicapped, Kolhapur).

"They will receive the awards at a function to be held on February 6 at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan auditorium," a press release from Manava Seva Dharma Samvardhani, a charitable trust, said.
