New Delhi , Feb. 4

TREND Micro, maker of anti-virus software, has launched a new software for desktops that the company claimed will act against Internet-based threats such as viruses, hackers and spam.

The new `PC-cillin Internet Security 2004' is targeted at home and small office/home office users, according to Mr Niraj Kaushik, Country Sales Manager of Trend Micro India. The software is priced at Rs 1,900 per user.

``PC-cillin Internet Security 2004 providers users with the kind of advanced features, such as the new Network Virus Emergency Center, to detect and block network-based threats," he claimed.

The software will send early warnings of new threats to users and virus pattern files can be automatically updated for the latest protection. Automated cleaning and restoration tools are triggered in the event viruses are caught to keep systems functioning properly, Mr Kaushik said.

Besides, the software also has a personal firewall component to protect users from hackers and intruders, and advanced privacy and spyware protection to safeguard passwords, bank account numbers and other personal information.
