BEL launches set-top boxes

Our Bureau

Bangalore , Feb. 4

BHARAT Electronics has quietly entered the set-top boxes (STBs) arena.

The STBs were launched at the BES International Exhibition in New Delhi. The company said it was in dialogue with various MSOs and CAS vendors to commercialise the product in a big way.

The STBs catering to cable and DTH TV segments will be competitively priced, the premier electronics manufacture said. They have been designed and developed by BEL and come in sleek, compact package.

BEL said it has extensive automated mass manufacturing capabilities and can meet the domestic demand - now largely met through imports - when the CAS (conditional access system ) is implemented extensively across the country.
