Events Workshop on ornamental fish Our Bureau
Kochi , Feb. 5 THE School of Industrial Fisheries of the Cochin University of Science and Technology is organising a three-day workshop on breeding, farming and management of ornamental fishes here from February 27. The objective of the workshop is to create awareness among postgraduate students, scholars and the teaching community including the extension workers of the government. This endeavour also seeks to transfer the knowledge generated out of the project carried out in the school on indigenous ornamental fishery and its potential as a commodity for developing a market in India and abroad. Dr A. Ramachandran, General Convenor, said the workshop would also provide a common platform for the huge body of recent research conducted all over the world on varied aspects of ornamental fish collection, breeding, farming, marketing and management. Special sessions will be devoted to aquarium design, construction and setting up, managing and maintaining aquarium, water quality management, packaging and transportation of live ornamental fish.
