No service tax for training institutes till June 30

Our Bureau

New Delhi , Feb. 7

COMMERCIAL training or coaching services provided by vocational training institutes, computer training institutes or recreational training institutes will not attract service tax until June 30.

The Finance Ministry has now extended the service tax exemption on taxable services provided by such institutes, in relation to commercial training or coaching, from February 29 to June 30.

The Revenue Department has now issued a notification to this effect.

The Government had in July last year exempted the taxable services provided by such institutes from the purview of the eight per cent service tax.

The exemption was valid up to February 29.
