Bank credit up Rs 3,361 cr

BANK credit in the system has risen by Rs 3,361 crore to touch Rs 7,95,350 crore for the fortnight ended January 23. This is inclusive of food credit, which grew by Rs 150 crore, and non-food credit, which grew by Rs 3,211 crore, according to the weekly statistical supplement of the Reserve Bank of India.

The total accommodation provided by scheduled commercial banks to the commercial sector in the form of bank credit and investments in shares, debentures, bonds, commercial paper, etc., went up by Rs 74,653 crore to touch Rs 8,47,348 crore during the fortnight ended, as per the WSS.
