Simhadri plant to be dedicated to nation today

Visakhapatnam , Feb. 8

THE Simhadri thermal power plant here, with an installed capacity of 1,000 MW, is to be dedicated to the nation on Monday in New Delhi by the Prime Minister, Mr Atal Behari Vajpayee.

The function will be held in Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, at 11 a.m. It would be attended by Mr Vajpayee, Mr Anant G. Geete, Union Minister of Power, Ms Jayawanti Mehta, Union Minister of State for Power and Mr R.V Shahi, Secretary, Power, Government of India, besides the Chairman and Managing Director of the NTPC and other officials.

The plant supplies the entire power it has generated to the State grid. The NTPC has an installed capacity of 21,247 MW and it accounts for 27 per cent of the power generated in the country.
