Transco strengthens T&D network for quality power

Hyderabad , Feb. 8

THE Transmission Corporation of Andhra Pradesh Ltd (APTransco) has announced that the corporation would invest about Rs 700 crore towards transmission sub-stations while laying the foundation stone for the construction of 132/33 kV sub-station at Saggonda in West Godavari district and yet another sub-station at Penuballi in Khammam district.

In an official statement, the Transco has said that these sub-stations and transmission lines would strengthen existing transmission and distribution network in all the regions of the State aimed at supporting the growing consumer base including the farm sector.

The corporation maintained that this network would improve both the voltage profile as also reliability of power supply paving way for the economic growth in the State.

The State Energy Minister, Mr K. Subbarayudu and senior Cabinet colleagues, laid the foundation stone for a 44 kV sub-station at Dichpalli and yet another 132 kV sub-station at Lingampet in Nizamabad district. While reviewing the power supply position for the rabi crop, the Energy Minister said that the Transco was able to supply around 130 million units per day in January as against 125 MUs during the corresponding period last year. This was significant given the fact that hydel generation has come down drastically.

Highlighting the investment made to strengthen the transmission and distribution system, Mr Subbarayudu said that Rs 7,362 crore was, thus far, invested during the past eight years in the Telangana region as against Rs 1,837 crore and Rs 1,451 crore respectively in the coastal and Rayalaseema regions. This has helped improve the overall power supply situation the State.

The improved T&D infrastructure has enabled the corporation to meet the growing demand for the farm sector particularly agriculture pumpsets, both during kharif and rabi seasons.
