PSA shows interest in Vizhinjam project

THE Port Authority of Singapore (PSA) has expressed interest to invest in the proposed Vizhinjam international deep-sea container terminal

PSA's interest in the project was formally conveyed by a team of officials that met the Minister for Ports and Cooperation, Mr M.V. Raghavan, and held detailed talks at the latter's official residence here on Sunday.

The seven-member PSA team was led by the Regional Director, Mr James Loi, and Head (Planning), Mr Keni Lim, an official spokesman for the Ministry of Ports and Cooperation said here.

The delegation told the Minister that Vizhinjam that geographical and locational attributes made Vizhinjam the ideal choice for setting up an international deep-sea container terminal, the spokesman said.

Mr Loi told Mr Raghavan that PSA would get back to him soon after holding consultations with shipping transport agencies. The team confirmed that the company would be represented at the Vizhinjam investors meet to be held in Thiruvananthapuram on February 28.
