Aquaculture Rs 1 crore for fish farming in Kerala Our Bureau
Prof K.V. Thomas, State Minister for Tourism and Fisheries, said that steps to check pollution of water bodies would be taken. The Minister was speaking after the ranching of indigenous fish fingerlings at Kumbalangi Village panchayat. Fingerlings of species such as murrel, cat fish, singhi and pearl spot were released at ponds and wells in the panchayat. The fingerlings were collected from various fish farms in Kottayam and Munambom using Rs 1 lakh fund earmarked for the purpose by the village panchayat. Fingerlings were distributed at free of cost, the Deputy Director, Fisheries Department, Ms Satyavathi said.
