PM dedicates Simhadri project

Hyderabad , Feb. 9

THE Prime Minister, Mr Atal Bihari Vajpayee, dedicated the 1,000 MW Simhadri Thermal Power Project (STPP) of the National Thermal Power Corporation near Visakhapatnam to the nation from New Delhi by unveiling the plaque at the project site on Monday using remote operation system, according to an NTPC press release here.

The entire power generated at the 2 x 500 MW STPP is being supplied to Andhra Pradesh. The project has the tallest cooling towers in Asia and seawater is being used for the first time for cooling purposes, the release added.
