Wellington (Nilgiris) , Feb. 10

THE Tamil Nadu Government has said it will contribute Rs 500 each for around 23,000 tea growers in the Nilgiris towards the Price Stabilisation Fund Scheme.

The scheme, being implemented from April last, did not have many takers as the growers were unwilling to remit the non-refundable sum of Rs 500.

Welcoming the initiative, Mr. M Bhojarajan, President of the Nilgiri Small Growers Association, said the proposal would benefit the growers to the extent of Rs 2.30 crore every year.
