Cranes widens portfolio through Lanner link-up

V. Rishi Kumar

Hyderabad , Feb.10

CRANES Software International Ltd., a scientific and engineering products and solutions company, has partnered with the UK-based Lanner group and lined up a series of applications for software modelling and design tools for business and enterprise requirements.

Bullish on the software modelling space, the Principal Consultant for Cranes Software International, Mr Jayarama Satyanarayana, told Business Line "high calibre simulation and business modelling technology will broaden the applications across several business segments. With the recent strategic tie-up with Lanner & Popkin range of products, we have broadened the company portfolio while helping consolidate the domain expertise."

"As a company, we are seeking to address vertical such as manufacturing, services sector and the growing IT-enabled service players, where it is possible to map their functioning and help further streamline their business processes and save on infrastructure cost. The global market potential is projected to grow to about $26 billion by the year 2006. After the BPR (business process re-engineering) wave, experts predict that the BPM (business process modelling) would catch up in a big way," he said.

Explaining the advantages that business modelling and stimulation brings to enterprises, Mr Satyanarayana said: "This modelling approach could be extended to business applications where we see a lot of emerging uses. Unlike a pure software solutions provider, we market these products, train the users and help them predict various business aspects in an enterprise."

"At a time when enterprises are increasingly focussing on higher RoI (return on investments), these modelling applications would help them get an advance overview of the possibilities through this virtual world of computing. This facilitates in getting a real world scenario picture that can be drawn up and scientifically measured," he said.

"For instance, a bank can map the performance of an ATM (automated teller machine) and see how this can be used," he explained.

With the Lanner & Popkin suite of modelling products, it is possible to bring to the table the power of predictive accuracy of simulation and optimisation technologies hitherto associated mainly with manufacturing applications to other businesses as well, Mr Satyanarayana said.
