Royal Sundaram records Rs 187-cr premium income

ROYAL Sundaram Alliance Insurance Company Ltd has recorded premium income of Rs 187 crore, with a Rs 5-crore profit during the first nine months of the current financial year, ended 31 December 2003.

The company aims to achieve a target of Rs 270 crore premium income and Rs 7 crore profit for the financial year 2003-04.

Personal insurance constitutes around Rs 98 crore, while commercial insurance's contribution to the total premium income stands at around Rs 89 crore. Motor was the main contributor, accounting for 50 per cent of Royal Sundaram's total business, followed by fire with 20 per cent, engineering and personal accident with 8 per cent each and marine and health with 5 per cent each.
