MR Klaus Schwab, President of World Economic Forum, has joined the club of global leaders such as Mr Bill Clinton, Mr James Wolfensohn and Mr Shengman Zheng to visit DWCRA (Development of Women and Children in Rural Areas) women to have a feel of the "social entrepreneurship" model.
Mr Schwab, along with his wife, has visited a group of DWCRA women at Medchal in the neighbouring Rangareddy district this morning.
The hundred-odd women belong to the Sneha Mahila MACTCS (Mutually Aided Co-operative Thrift and Credit Societies), which has a membership of 4,204 with a turnover of Rs 1.21 crore.
A visibly impressed Mr Schwab said that women had to become a driving force in all development efforts.
Addressing the group, he said, "What you are doing is very essential in making future a bright one."
Congratulating the women, he said he had come to see what the DWCRA women were doing as "Andhra Pradesh has become famous in the world as a model for social progress."
He said the economic forum united governments, corporations and non-governmental organisations for improving the global economic system.
The forum believed in cooperative efforts between governments, businesses and other agencies to achieve progress.
Commending the efforts of DWCRA women, Ms Schwab, who founded Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship along with her husband, said, "We see in practice here what we talk about in theory."
