Bangalore , Feb. 11

OVER a 100 companies have confirmed their participation at the campus placements for the graduating batch of 2004 at the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore, according to Mr Ganesh N. Prabhu, Associate Professor and Chairperson, Placements, IIM-B.

Speaking to Business Line, he said that a large number of these would be from the FMCG and finance sector. This year, the final placements are to be held on March 2.

Meanwhile, lateral placements are already underway at the institute and 103 offers have already been made, he said.

"Out of this 60 offers are from IT companies and the rest have come from FMCG and consulting companies."

Mr Prabhu, however, declined to divulge details of average salary, as `we'll have to wait for the final placements that happen next month to calculate that.' Out of the 103 lateral offers, 15 companies have confirmed 76 offers and 14 companies have made 27 preplacement offers. "Five more companies have to complete the process which will happen in the next 10 days," he added.

In the current batch, about 39 per cent of the 217 students are with 1-2 years experience, about 24 per cent with 2-3 years and about 11 per cent with 3-4 years, seven per cent with less than one year and about 19 per cent with no experience, according to statistics available at the institute.
