Life Insurance Oriental Insurance launches non-life schemes in Mangalore Our Bureau
Mangalore , Feb. 11 ORIENTAL Insurance Company Ltd, which has entered into an agreement with the Department of Posts for distributing non-life insurance products through post offices, launched some of its products in Mangalore on Wednesday. Speaking on the occasion, the Marketing Manager of Oriental Insurance, Mr Surya Rao, said that the scheme to distribute non-life products through post offices is being launched in Bangalore, Hubli-Dharwad, and Mangalore. It will be extended to other districts soon. Currently, post offices will sell five products of the company. Mr Rao said that Oriental Insurance, along with the Department of Posts, hopes to synergise rural development by making specialised rural insurance products available to each home in rural India. Mr Charles Lobo, Director of South Karnataka Postal Services, stated that the Department of Posts has issued 2.5 lakh postal life insurance policies and one lakh rural life insurance policies till now. Mr N. Sundararaman, Senior Divisional Manager, who welcomed the gathering, stated that the agreement would help Oriental Insurance to tap the potential of 1.5-lakh post offices in the country to sell non-life insurance products.
