Bank seminar in Mangalore from Feb 16

CORPORATION Bank chair in bank management at Mangalore University will conduct a two-day national seminar on "WTO and banking sector in India" in Mangalore from February 16.

Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, the Registrar of Mangalore University, Mr K. Sundar Naik, said that Ms Shyamala Gopinath, Executive Director, Reserve Bank of India, would inaugurate the seminar and deliver keynote address.

The Chairman and Managing Director of Corporation Bank, Mr Cherian Varghese, will be the chief guest. There will be a special lecture on "Financial services agreement" by the former Commerce Secretary, Mr P.P. Prabhu.

On February 17, Prof A. Jayagovinda, Director of National Law School of India University, Bangalore, will deliver a special lecture on "Legal implications of WTO on the banking sector." The Managing Director and CEO of the Credit Rating Information Services of India Ltd, Mumbai, Mr R. Ravimohan, will deliver the valedictory address. The Executive Director of Corporation Bank, Mr P.K. Gupta, will be the chief guest.

Mr Naik stated that Corporation Bank has donated Rs 1.67 lakh for organising the seminar.

The Deputy General Manager of Corporation Bank, Mr B.R. Bhat, and the coordinator of Corporation Bank chair in bank management, Prof G.V. Joshi, were present at the press conference.
