Coimbatore , Feb. 12

THE seventh edition of the Industrial Trade Fair - Intec 2004 - organised by the Coimbatore District Small Industries Association (Codissia) at the trade fair complex is slated between February 18 and 24.

Conducted every alternate year (since 2000), the week-long fair would, besides showcasing the industrial products, run a concurrent event this year on industrial automation. "This is in keeping pace with the recent developments," the Chairman of Intec, Mr R. Palaniswami, said.

Briefing presspersons, he said the Industrial Automation Expo 2004 would concentrate on three aspects - automation, instrumentation and IT systems.

Departing from the standard approach of merely conducting an expo to provide a platform for marketing various industrial products, the organisers propose to release a computerised business visitor profile this year.

"This directory would capture the visitor's profile. Manufacturers can limit their search and identify prospective buyers without any hassle," he explained.

Apart from engineering items such as machine tools, foundry, home appliances, auto components, farm and medical equipments, textile machinery and spares, some hi-tech products are also to be showcased this year.

The fair is to be inaugurated by Mr N. Kumar, Vice-President, Sanmar Group, Chennai.
