Announcements Marketing - New Products & Services Ajanta Pharma's Tadalisa to take on Viagra Our Bureau
Mumbai , Feb 12 AJANTA Pharma Ltd has launched Tadalisâ, a drug for erectile dysfunction in men. Tadalisa is a chemical equivalent of tadalafil and the original patent holder for this drug is Eli Lilly, which also hopes to market the drug in the country under the Cialis brandname. Tadalafil is reported to have two times faster onset of action compared to sildenafil, a note from Ajanta Pharma said. Sildenafil is better known as Viagra, the brand name under which the drug is sold by its original patent-holder Pfizer Inc. Ajanta Pharma also launched a chemical equivalent of sildenafil, under the brandname Kamagraâ. Tadalisa is priced at Rs 18 for one tablet of 10 mg or Rs 72 for a pack of four tablets. Its 20 mg tablets are sold at Rs 32 for one tablet and Rs 128 for a pack of four, according to company top-brass. On whether Tadalisa would cannibalise into Kamagraa's market, the official explained that diabetic patients, for instance, who were not able to take Kamagraa would be able to take Tadalisa instead.
