Our Bureau

New Delhi , Feb 12

BRACING itself for further strengthening its position in the Asian region, Samsung Electronics has announced a shift in management structure in the region.

Under a new regional structure, India, which was previously under Samsung South-East Asia, will now be the hub for Samsung South-West Asia, covering all SAARC markets, excluding Pakistan.

Mr Kwang-Soo Kim has been appointed the first President and Chief Executive Officer of Samsung South-West Asia region, according to an official statement. He will also function as the Managing Director of Samsung India Electronics Ltd. Mr Kim was President and CEO of Samsung South-Wast Asia prior to this.

"India has been identified as one of our six global strategic markets and the South-West Asia region is poised to play an increasingly bigger role in Samsung's global business in the near future. That is the reason for India being made the regional headquarters for Samsung's South-West Asia operations," stated Mr Kim, after assuming charge.
