Ghazal concert for a cause

Our Bureau

HYDERABAD: Popular ghazal singer Jagjit Singh will perform in live concert here on February 15 to raise funds for a project taken by Round Table-134 for the construction of a school building at Alur village near Chevella in Ranga Reddy district.

The effort is part of `Freedom through education,' a nationwide campaign run by Round Table India, a Global Young Men's organisation.

The campaign aims at improving primary literacy rate by 10 lakh by assisting in the construction of over 2,000 schools by the year 2008. "Of this, 500 schools have already been built with an investment of Rs 40 crore, benefiting 2.5 lakh children across the country," Mr Ashish Tibrewala, a `Tabler,' said here in a statement.

Six Round Table organisations based out of the city and 11 other Tables in the State have so far taken up 35 school projects.
