Workshop on avian flu

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala State Poultry Development Corporation will be organising a workshop on `Avian flu and Indian poultry industry' on Monday to allay fears among farmers and consumers about the perceived danger of contracting the disease.

The Mayor of Thiruvananthapuram, Prof J. Chandra, will inaugurate the workshop, being held at Hotel Mascot, at 10 am. Mr V.K. Vasudevan, Additional Secretary to Government (Animal Husbandry), will deliver the key-note address. Other speakers include Mr N. M. Sadanandan, Chairman, Kerala State Poultry Development Corporation (KSPDC), Dr R. Vijaya Kumar, Additional Director, Department of Animal Husbandry, and Dr Ani S. Das, Managing Director, Meat Products of India Ltd.
