KOCHI: Equal wages for equal work should be enforced as mentioned in Article 14 of the Constitution and denying this to women would amount to violation of law, according to former Chairperson of the Kerala State Women's Commission, Ms Justice D. Sreedevi.

Speaking at the session on Social Empowerment at the final day of the first state level conference of Shakthi, a national movement for women, she said that women should be given jobs suiting their physical conditions. Childcare centres should be opened in workplace for women who had children, she said.
