New Delhi , Feb. 16

AS the 1,000-crore DuPont India explores the possibility of beefing up its presence in the country, its corporate social responsibility programme for the second consecutive year touches the lives of metro school children and helps to strengthen the scientific temper in the country.

"When I was growing up I didn't even know what cloning was all about," remarked Mr Pankaj H. Shah, outgoing President of DuPont India, as he and Dr Uma Chowdhry, Vice President, Global R&D Centre, gave away certificates to the winners of DuPont India Challenge 2003, a nation-wide annual science paper contest among school children.

The awards were presented to the students and teachers by Dr R.A. Mashelkar, Director-General, Council for Scientific and Industrial Research. Around 3,000 students from 450 schools participated in it.
