Promotions & Offers Taj Hotels draws up special Karnataka fare Anjali Prayag
Bangalore , Feb. 18 TAKING a cue from its group hotels in Goa and Kerala, the Taj Group has launched a new itinerary covering its three major properties in the State. Called `Best of Karnataka,' the group wants to promote Karnataka as a destination through this exercise, and "give the guests the Taj experience," sources within the group in Bangalore told Business Line today. The group offers three packages under this programme, covering Bangalore, Mysore, Chikmagalur and Mangalore. Launched informally about three months ago, the packages have got a "good response" from the guests and the travel trade, they said. Designed to capture the essence of Karnataka, the itinerary offers an experience of the city life of Bangalore, the royalty of Mysore, the plantation lifestyle at Chikmagalur and the sunny beaches of Mangalore. At Bangalore, guests can choose between Taj Gateway and Taj Kuteeram, at Mysore, the Group has a tie-up with Southern Star, at Chikmagalur, the guests stay at the Taj Garden Retreat and at Mangalore, the Taj Manjarun Hotel. "The capital city will be the entry point for guests. While the locals can skip the Bangalore part of the itinerary, travellers from other parts of the country and the globe can have a two day experience of the city before proceeding to the other locations," according to the sources. Before the launch of the itinerary, the group went through several trial runs after which it decided on the distance that could be travelled without exhausting the guests, the average stay that would be ideal to experience the lifestyle of the towns, and the mode of travel that could be used. The 1,200-km tour will be covered in a comfortable high-end MUV, the sources said. Depending on the itinerary choice, the package costs between Rs 26,500 and Rs 34,000 for a double occupancy and between Rs 21,850 and Rs 28,800 for a single occupancy. Talking about the response to the packages, the sources said, "We have had several NRIs and expats opting for it. We expect to do very well in summer," adding, "We are looking at quality customers and not volumes."
