Chennai , Feb. 18

RALCO, a brand of automobile tyres and tubes manufactured by a Ludhiana-based company, was launched in the southern markets here on Wednesday.

Ralco tyres and tubes made by Ram Lubhaya & Sons Ltd will be available for two- and three-wheelers. The brand has been in the markets in north India for about two years.

Ram Lubhaya was promoted by Ralson (India) Ltd, a bicycle tyre manufacturer in the business for nearly three decades, according to the Deputy General Manager of Ram Lubhaya, Mr G.S. Passi.

Ralson manufactures one-lakh cycle tyres a day and has a turnover of over Rs 300 crore.

Ram Lubhaya will replicate Ralson's success in cycle tyre manufacture, he said. It has a factory at Doraha, near Ludhiana with a capacity to produce 12 lakh tyres a year. It will soon be expanded by about 50 per cent, and produce utility vehicle tyres, tractor front tyres and cart tyres.
