Events Workshop on shareholder value Our Bureau
Hyderabad , Feb. 18 HOW can corporate managers maximise shareholder value? What are the strategies and operational actions needed to achieve this? How is shareholder value estimated? In an attempt to provide answers to these questions, which are assuming greater importance currently with increased activity in the stock markets, a two-day workshop is being organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and the Indian Institute of Management Studies (IIM) Calcutta from February 20. Shareholder value is one of the important measures of corporate performance. It reflects the quantum of incremental value a company has generated for its shareholders. Failure to enhance the shareholder value on a continuing basis can lead to declining interest of the existing and potential investors towards providing funds to the company in the future. This lack of interest is reflected in the share premium the company commands in the capital market. The workshop has been designed to expose the participants to the concept of shareholder value and indicate where the managers have a primary role to maximise the same, according to a CII release. Prof Ranjan Das, Senior faculty of IIM Calcutta, will address the workshop, which would also focus on communication with investors on company's future strategies, organisational and HR initiatives to become a shareholder value company.
