Rubber steady on tyre firms' purchases

THE physical rubber prices were almost steady on Thursday. RSS 4, the only gainer of the day, closed at Rs 52.75 against Rs 52.50 on Wednesday. According to market sources, some tyre companies were also buying sheet rubber at the prevailing rates.

RSS 3 improved to Rs 57.83 from Rs 57.65 in the Bangkok market . The TOCOM March futures for RSS 3 was quoted at 138 yen

The rubber futures turned weak on Thursday. The near month March delivery was quoted at Rs 53.50 (Rs 53.90), April delivery at Rs 56.15 (Rs 56.59), May delivery at Rs 58.90 (Rs 59.34) and June delivery at Rs 61.07 (Rs 61.57) per kg for RSS 4.

The spot market rates were as follows: RSS 4 Rs 52.75 (Rs 52.50); RSS 5 Rs 51.50 (Rs 51.50); ungraded Rs 50 (Rs 50 ); ISNR 20 Rs 52. (Rs 52); latex 60% Rs 40 (Rs 40).
