A `boutique hotel' from Ohri group

Our Bureau

Hyderabad , Feb.19

A KITCHEN in a hotel room where a butler is available on demand! This is precisely what a Hyderabad - based food chain and hospitality group has come up with by designing a three-star hotel which is being termed as a `boutique hotel,' the first such facility in Hyderabad, the promoters of the Ohri group claim.

The Chairman and Managing Director of the Ohri group and Hotel Basera, Mr Ravi Kumar Ohri, and the Executive Director of the group, Mr Amar Ohri, have developed a 26,000-sq ft multi-speciality food court complex offering Ohri's Banjara, in the posh Banjara Hills area.

Developed with an investment of about Rs 7.5 crore, the Ohri group, which has several major restaurants and eating joints in the twin cities plans to open similar centres in Bangalore and Chennai.

Addressing a press conference on Thursday to announce the launch of the hotel, Mr Amar Ohri said the hotel is the fourth from the Ohri's, which also runs pickles and a food court at Prasad's I-Max theatre complex. The group, which runs this chain of hotels under Ohri's name, also manages Ming's Court, Silver Metro, Gufaa and Havmor, all under Ohri's cuisine court.

With the demand for quality hotels and restaurants on the upswing, the Ohris believe that this would also serve as a transit office facility for companies that are in the process of establishing their centres in Hyderabad. They would have the advantage of a tapered tariff package. While serving as a business centre, this could be like a home away from home where one could have food of choice by summoning a butler.

"The hospitality industry is looking up with increasing number of tourists over the year and a multi-cultural environment. This has paved the way for new lifestyle restaurants. With the demand for such outlets going up by the day, the Ohris plan similar facilities in Hyderabad and in other cities in the South," said Mr Amar Ohri.
