Hyderabad , Feb 20 NATIONAL Insurance Company Ltd (NIC), the public sector non-life insurance major, has entered into a strategic alliance with e-Seva, the online electronic delivery of Government and private services, to provide general insurance products. Addressing presspersons here on Friday, the NIC General Manager, Mr S. Majumdar, said as part of this agreement, e-Seva counters would make available a variety of insurance products from NIC to the public. "These general insurance products are tailor-made for e-Seva with preferential pricing and special features when compared to the regular products of NIC. Substantial benefits will accrue to the citizens by way of discounted rates and special benefits," he said. According to the e-Seva Director, Mr Praveen Prakash, e-Seva has geared up its infrastructure and its staff has undergone stipulated training to retail insurance products as per the norms laid by the insurance regulator. "The connectivity between e-Seva and NIC is being established to allow smooth sale of various general insurance products such as health insurance policies, personal accident policies, householders policy, tariff accident policy and Janatha Personal Accident policy and a host of such products. More will be added in a phased manner," the e-Seva Director said. Stating that the implementation was going to start in early March, he said the actual sale of policies would also be done through the e-Seva counters across the State. Mr Majumdar said in the subsequent phase after three to four months when the connectivity was completely established between e-Seva and NIC, the insurance company plans to print the policy at the e-Seva counters itself and people could carry their policy copy instead of just a money receipt. NIC has also entered into an alliance with Family Health Plan Ltd (FHPL), the city-based largest third party administrator (TPA), to enable people to avail themselves of cashless medical treatment facility. FHPL engages itself in providing aftersales services to policyholders by offering them a wide range of customer-friendly and timely services, its Director, Ms Sangitha Reddy, said.
