Tea CTC teas lower at Kochi auction Our Bureau
Kochi , Feb. 22 A FAIR general demand persisted for almost all varieties of tea at the Kochi tea auction. Of the quantity of 841,000 kg on offer in the dust category, CTC market was lower by Rs 1-2 and sometimes more. Orthodox dusts remained steady. The best CTC varieties commanded prices between Rs 45 and Rs 63, medium CTC realised Rs 40-45 and poorer type were quoted Rs 30-35. Highgrown BOPD fetched prices between Rs 60 and Rs 120, while medium BOPD realised Rs 30-32. The leaf sale also witnessed a fair general demand and the quantity on offer was 226,000 kg. Orthodox leaf grades fairly steady and tended to ease. CTCs were easier by Rs 1-1.50. Exporters to CIS continued to operate in less strength and they were very selective. However, secondaries and low priced orthodox witnessed good demand for other exporters. The best Nilgiri varieties commanded prices between Rs 42 and Rs 65, medium orthodox realised Rs 33-44. The best CTC leaf fetched prices between Rs 45 and Rs 57, while medium CTC leaf realised Rs 34-41. In the dust category, Kodanaad CL-BOPD fetched the best prices of Rs 121 followed by Parkside CL-BOPD by Rs 88. In the leaf varieties, Havukal BOP realised the best prices of Rs 132 followed by Kilkotagiri OP by Rs 91.
