Nuclear proliferation

This is with reference to "Pakistan's nuclear proliferation pangs" (Business Line, February 21). The recently unearthed illegal nuclear proliferation in Pakistan has heightened the risk of nuclear technology falling into the hands of terrorists. The larger the world's nuclear arsenals remain, the greater the possibility that some of these weapons fall into the hands of terrorists or to contiguous states. While the US President, Mr George Bush, has said that his country will do everything in its power to make sure that terrorists never use nuclear weapons, there remains an enormous gap between the seriousness and urgency of the threat and the scope and pace of the international response.
