`India can do well in manufacturing too'

New Delhi , Feb. 22

INDIA'S forte in the service sector is well-known but India could also do well in the manufacturing sector, said Che Abdul Daim Zainuddin, Member of Parliament, Government of Malaysia.

Delivering the keynote address at the third Asia Pacific Executive Forum, he said that the emergence of two power houses - India and China - will not lead to fierce competition. "There is a case for complementariness and not competition," Mr Zainuddin said.

Talking in favour of outsourcing, he said that Asian prosperity will benefit the US and Europe. Earlier, Mr Kishor Chaukar, Managing Director, Tata Industries, said that in order to sustain the new found dynamism, India would need bright leadership - not only political but also industrial.
