New Delhi , Feb. 22

AS part of its overseas expansion plans, Mahindra and Mahindra is considering setting up an assembly line for its utility vehicles in Indonesia.

"Indonesia is a key market for us in East Asia, and we are exploring the possibility of setting up an assembly line for our utility vehicles there," said Mr Anand Mahindra, Vice-Chairman and Managing Director.

Speaking to reporters after the inauguration of the Third Asia Pacific Executive Forum, Mr Mahindra said Indonesia, along with China, South Africa and Russia, are the markets identified for the company's products. "These markets are very similar to India and apart from Indonesia, vehicles can be assembled in these countries too. More than 80 per cent of the passenger vehicles sold in Indonesia are sports utility vehicles, so Indonesia remains our immediate thrust area," he said.
