Hind Motors to launch LCV

HINDUSTAN Motors Ltd (HM) will roll out a light commercial vehicle (LCV) from its Uttarpara works within the next six months. The engine technology has been obtained from an "Indian partner", according to Mr S. Burman, Vice-President (Marketing).

Mr Burman told newspersons after the inauguration of Kolkata Auto Fair 2004 that the LCV would be a six-tonner and the product would be rolled out within the next six months. The final price of the LCV was yet to be fixed, he said.

He also declined to divulge the name of the Indian partner from whom the technology was being obtained.

HM unveiled its latest offering, an Ambassador variant christened Avigo. The new model would be available in two versions - a 1.8 litre Isuzu petrol engine and a two-litre diesel engine. Ex-showroom price at Kolkata would be Rs 4.98 lakh and Rs 4.77 lakh, respectively. The company also launched two multi-utility vehicles,, the Porter Plus and the Hardtop Trekker. The Porter Plus is priced at Rs 3.04 lakh and the Hardtop Trekker at Rs 3.58 lakh.
