Round-the-world container service

NORASIA, Gold Star and China Shipping Containers lines propose to launch jointly a new round-the-world container service, also covering three Indian ports — two on the west coast - - Nhava Sheva International Container Terminal and Mundra International Container Terminal - - both run by P&O Ports, and Tuticorin on the east where the container terminal is run by PSA Corp, according to informed sources.

Starting this month, the port rotation of the west-bound services will be: Shanghai-Ningbo - Xiamen - Shenzen -Singapore- Port Kelang - Dubai - Mundra - Nhava Sheva - Tuticorin - Colombo - Dameita - Felixstowe - Rotterdam - Hamburg- Port Elizabeth-Newport News - Charleston - Kingston - Los Angeles - Shanghai.

Norasia's participation in the consortium will be maximum in the sense that eight of the 12 vessels to be run on the route will be deployed by it.

Meanwhile, commencing next month, Mediterranean Shipping Company proposes to call also at Mundra in addition to its current service to Jawaharlal Nehru port, the sources add. EOM
