`Taste Buds' now in Kochi

Kochi , Feb. 23

KERALA cinema superstar Mohanlal has entered the packaged food industry with the launch of `Taste Buds', a brand with a range of spices, condiments and pickles. Taste Buds has over 50 varieties of products, available in packs ranging from 50g to 400 g.

Launching Taste Buds in Kochi, Mr Mohanlal said: "The taste and aroma of food are heavily dependent on the quality of ingredients used. This is just the beginning and we have plans to launch 300 products, which will include tea, rice, savoury and oil." Taste Buds has a built a network of 58 distributors in Kerala and the company has plans to enter the South Indian market in a big way.

Taste Buds was earlier launched in the Gulf countries in June last year and is currently available in the UAE, Bahrain, Oman, Kuwait, Qatar and Saudi Arabia. In the last eight months, the Taste Buds range of products has raked up significant sales volume in the region.

Taste Buds makes use of the marketing strategies of Spinnies Dubai Group and is backed by good distribution network, a press release issued here said. Dr Anandhavalli, who holds a doctorate in Food Quality and Auditing, is the Quality Controller of Taste Buds. She is a member of the expert panel of the UN's Food and Agricultural Organisation. She is also advisor to the Dubai Municipality in matters pertaining to food hygiene.

"Just like films, food is also in fashion. With the launch of Taste Buds, we will put Kerala on the food map of the world," Mr Mohanlal said.
