MANGALORE: The Deputy General Manager of Corporation Bank, Mr B.R. Bhat, has said that banks should take the responsibility of passing on the benefits of the liberalisation policy of the Government to customers.

The changes in the policies have not reached customers in the real sense, and banks should play a major role in this regard, he said.

Inaugurating a seminar on "Forex business", convened under the aegis of Foreign Exchange Dealers' Association of India (FEDAI), Mumbai, in Mangalore, he said that the Reserve Bank of India has announced various relaxations in the recent past and made the Foreign Exchange Management Act customer-friendly.

Mr Prakash M. Pethe, senior executive from FEDAI, complimented Corporation Bank for familiarising the participants with the latest guidelines on the subject.

Senior officials of various nationalised banks, private banks, and cooperative banks are participating in this weeklong seminar.
