Hyderabad , Feb.24

SYNOPSYS Inc, a semiconductor design software solutions provider, has announced the acquisition of Monolithic System Technology Inc (MoSys) and Accelerant Networks, both operating in the semiconductor design applications industry.

This is expected to expand Synopsys' solutions portfolio of standards-based IP and help deliver on-chip building blocks designers need to build various complex systems-on-chips (SoCs) used in today's consumer product, storage and network infrastructure markets.

Synopsys and MoSys, a provider of SoC embedded memory solutions, announced that they have entered into a definitive agreement for Synopsys to acquire MoSys in a cash and stock transaction valued at approximately $ 432 million. The acquisition is expected to close by May 2004.

In addition, Synopsys announced that the company has acquired Accelerant Networks, a privately held company providing a highly efficient technology for high-speed serial interfaces.

The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Synopsys, Mr Aart de Geus, in a statement said: "Synopsys' acquisition of MoSys and Accelerant will expand our IP portfolio to provide a comprehensive offering of standards-based IP, chip infrastructure IP and embedded memory IP".While MoSys, headquartered in California, US provides embedded memory solutions, Accelerant Networks is a fabless semiconductor company delivering intelligent silicon transceivers .
