Next Gen, Escotel in pact for mobile content

NEXT Gen Media Alliances Ltd, an end-to-end digital rights management solutions company, has forged an exclusive agreement with the leading mobile service provider in the State, Escotel, to offer mobile content to its subscribers in the State.

"This is the first time ever that audio mobile content will be offered under the secure and high-tech digital rights management (DRM) platform" a press release issued here has said.

Escotel subscribers in Kerala will have access to high quality ring tones, movie logos and much more of the latest Malayalam blockbusters at Rs 10 per request under the secure DRM enabled environment.

The service has already elicited an overwhelming response, registering over 20,000 requests for the ring tone of the song popular song `lajjawatiye' from the much talked about film, `4 - The people', the press release said.

Announcing the development, Mr Jai S. Rajagopal, Director of Next Gen Media Alliances, said: "In a rapidly changing techno-commercial environment, we are extremely pleased with this association and it is quite a task to reach out to the entertainment lovers in the State with the latest technology and concepts in mobile content, while curbing piracy at the same time."

This is in tune with the company's mission to bring the latest technology platforms such as DRMs to India and to make entertainment available to the people at most affordable prices.

Through the DRM platform, the company plans to ensure that the movie buffs in Kerala get the latest and the best in entertainment most conveniently on their handsets.

Mr B. Ramakrishna, Chief Operating Officer of Escotel, Kerala, invited the company's most valued customers to try out this highly versatile service that is yet another first from Kerala's most trusted name in mobile communications.

DRM technology is still evolving in India.

It aims at safeguarding the interest of the originators of creative content by using the modern technology and through the execution of well planned strategies, DRM can effectively carry out functions that shall enable rights managed digital contents to be safely and securely transmitted and delivered to various end-user environments, the release pointed out.
