`Legal system should be supportive of entrepreneurial efforts'

Our Bureau

Hyderabad , Feb. 25

MR Justice Devinder Gupta, Chief Justice of Andhra Pradesh High Court, has called upon the Federation of Andhra Pradesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Fapcci) to strive hard to maintain the public confidence in the economic system.

Participating in an interactive meeting with the members of Fapcci here, he said the structural reforms in the country had paved the way for a more open economy where free enterprise would have its rightful place.

"The reforms have been aimed at creating the necessary environment for technological development, investments in industry, trade and infrastructure for utilising the available resources. The reforms have necessitated a certain measure of modification and adjustment in the existing legal framework," the Chief Justice said.

In order to provide a congenial atmosphere for competitive environment and economic liberalisation, several legislative and administrative measures had been brought about. Stating that the legal system took an upper hand over entrepreneurial efforts, the Chief Justice said that efforts should be made to ensure the legal system also became supportive to all the entrepreneurial efforts in society, a Fapcci press release said.
