Promotions & Offers DHL to sponsor fashion seminars Our Bureau
Mumbai , Feb. 25 DHL, the express and logistics player, will organise and sponsor the `Business of Fashion Seminar Series' in association with the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI). The seminar series will be held during the Lakme India Fashion Week 2004 to be held in the Capital between April 23 and 29. DHL is a co-sponsor of the fashion week. According to an official statement, the seminars will address the opportunities available in the WTO regime under the topic `Indian Apparel and Garment Industry _ emerging powerhouse.' DHL will also sponsor the buyers' lounge for domestic and international buyers attending the fashion week. The express player is optimistic about apparel exports post the 2004 quota regime when the global textile and apparel industry is expected to grow manifold. A McKinsey study commissioned by DHL predicts that the global textile and apparel industry is likely to grow to $248 billion by 2008. And India is expected to garner $16 billion of this market, increasing her share to 6.5 per cent from 4 per cent currently. The statement quoting the Country Manager, Mr Chris Callen, said: "The fashion industry is a highly competitive industry where success hinges on speed and reliability. It is critical that the newest fashions get to market quickly and DHL has expertise in this segment."
