Conditional imbroglio

This is with reference to the editorial "CAS gets messier" (Business Line, February 26). While TRAI has said that it is not looking into the desirability of having the conditional access system, its intervention has raised the expectations of the consumers, broadcasters and cable operators.

Also, even if CAS is to be implemented later on, TRAI must look into the issue of pricing and advertisements. In many countries, pay channels are not allowed to broadcasts advertisements. One hopes that the same rule is implemented in India too.
